Soldiers from 1 Regiment and a number of retired army personnel, capped off this year’s training calendar with a Skill-at-Arms shooting competition at Pembroke Ranges.

The competition's aim was to conduct a rigorous and challenging training event which encompassed current in-service small arms systems.

It was designed to allow for assessment of current in-service small arms system capabilities, equipment and targetry, as well as training analysis of combat shooting techniques, weapon training doctrine, and small arms practices.

It encouraged team effort within the regiment's sub-units, and promoted fair competition.

Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Mario Borg said the event helped create an enjoyable and challenging training opportunity which went well beyond the improvement of the regiment's level of proficiency of its personnel's skill-at-arms.
