Dar il-Kaptan, the respite home for people with special needs in Mtarfa, will soon be getting a badly needed extension, providing clients with greater comfort and privacy.
The extension will lead to a reduction in the number of clients in each bedroom and allow for a larger playing and recreational area inside, making the home much more comfortable and user friendly.
Rotary Club Malta has agreed to raise money for the extension, which is going to cost about Lm40,000. This will be the major philanthropic project that the club will undertake as part of its activities to celebrate the centenary of the formation of Rotary International, which is marked in February.
Major fund-raising activities by Rotary Club Malta have already taken place, and others are planned, to raise the sum needed to complete the project.
One of the members of Rotary Club Malta, Heribert Grunert, has personally donated Lm5,000 towards the project.
The home is now awaiting the final permits from the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.
