A 49-year-old man from Paola was caught red-handed by the police trying to escape from the roof of a residence he had broken into.

The police said they were informed that a man had broken into a residence in Triq Mater Boni Consilii, Paola at 1.40pm.

District police and members of the Rapid Intervention Unit went on site and saw that the door of the residence was slightly open. They entered and saw a man on the roof.

The man tried to escape but was caught and arrested.
