Ryanair has cancelled all scheduled flights to and from the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland and the Baltic States until Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The airline said it was cancelling the flights because of the continuing emission of volcanic ash across the British Isles, Scandinavia and Europe.

Ryanair flights from Spain, the Canary and Baleric islands, the south of Italy (including Pisa, Rome, Sardinia and Sicily), Malta and north Africa will continue to operate domestic and southbound routes.

Ryanair said passengers may apply for a full refund or rebook on flights later this week, which Ryanair hoped it would be able to resume with improved or changed weather conditions.

It said it was anxious to give passengers as much information as possible, as far in advance as possible, to allow them to make alternative arrangements.
