The Australian Club which had signed Malta striker Michael Mifsud, Melbourne Heart, has released the player, Australian media announced.

Sources said it was Mr Mifsud who asked the club to release him because he wanted to return to Malta for personal reasons.

Mr Mifsud signed a one-year-deal with Melbourne Heart in September last year. In 14 games for the club, Mr Mifsud scored once.
