Times of Malta journalist Sarah Carabott is Malta’s finalist for the EU Health Prize for Journalists, which will be announced in Brussels this evening.
The prize, which is in its fifth year, is awarded by the European Commission to stimulate high-quality journalism that raises awareness of issues related to healthcare and patients’ rights.
In 2013, 629 journalists from all over Europe submitted 858 eligible articles, breaking all previous submission records. Ms Carabott will be competing against finalists from the 27 other member states.
Her article, titled ‘It is difficult to accept your life has changed’, featured the story of software developer Alistair Farrugia, who was coping with the challenges of living with multiple sclerosis.
Ms Carabott, who joined Times of Malta three years ago, is also a finalist in the features category of the upcoming Malta journalism awards, organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists.
