Super-sub Daniel Bogdanovic came to Sheffield United’s rescue last night when he scored an 88th-minute equaliser from a penalty to earn a point for the struggling Blades after a one-all draw against Reading at home.

It was the second successive time that the Malta striker had scored for troubled United from a penalty after coming off the subs’ bench.

Yesterday, he was introduced on 66 minutes, as a replacement for new signing Sam Vokes (ex-Wolves), and fired in the equaliser after he was brought down in the box by Andy Griffin.

Shane Long had given Reading the lead nine minutes from time.

On Saturday, Bogdanovic was also on the mark after scoring a penalty against Millwall in another Championship match that also finished 1-1.

The Blades are still in the drop zone, two points adrift of safety.
