Judge Antonio Mizzi has been appointed chair of the Authority for the Protection of Embryos.

He will be replacing the late judge Philip Sciberras.

Health Minister Chris Fearne congratulated Mizzi on his appointment and stressed the importance of the authority.

This, he said, had helped hundreds of individuals build a family and had a good reputation both in Malta and abroad.
