On February 25 I was invited to join some relatives to celebrate my cousin's birthday. A booking was made at the Carrubia Restaurant, Marsaxlokk, at 8.30 p.m. for 13 persons.

At 9 p.m. everybody was at table and we handed in our order, consisting only of drinks and a main course.

After 45 minutes chatting to pass the time, still no sign of our food and our glasses were almost empty. In the meantime, a couple that came after us was served with drinks, starter as well as main course.

We showed our disapproval and complained to the waitress, but till 10.15, our 'complicated' meal was still giving a hard time to the chef.

To add insult to injury, another table of 16 persons (who also came in after us) was served before us, with drinks, pizza and pasta.

Several times we were tempted to leave the restaurant, but out of respect for our cousin we remained there till we finally got served at 10.30. What a shame!

Is this the way frequent diners are treated? This incident was not the only one. Members of my family, as well as I, had similar experiences from this same restaurant.

At that time we ignored their poor service but this incident really was the cherry on the cake.

I will definitely not recommend the Carrubia Restaurant to my friends and will not hesitate to suggest other high quality, better service restaurants, which are just a few metres away.
