FIFA referee Clayton Pisani (picture) was yesterday assigned to lead a six-man team of Maltese officials in charge of this week’s Euro 2016 qualifier between Lithuania and San Marino.

The Group E match will be played at the LFF Stadionas, in Vilnius, on Tuesday night.

The Malta FA Refereeing Department said in a statement that they had selected assistant referees Alan Camilleri and Edward Spiteri, additional assistant referees Alan Mario Sant and Marco Borg, and fourth official Duncan Sultana as the others in Pisani’s team for the Lithuania-San Marino match.

UEFA referee observer Marian Ruzbarsky (Slovakia FA) will be assessing the Maltese officials’ performance while Florian Prunea (Romania FA) is the UEFA delegate assigned for the match.

On June 13, Pisani became the first Maltese referee to officiate a competitive match involving the reigning world champions as he was in charge of Germany’s Euro 2016 Group D qualifier against Gibraltar.

The match was played at the Estadio Algarve, Portugal.

On that occasion Andre Schuerrle scored a hat-trick as Germany trounced their minnow opponents 7-0.
