OBITUARIES
DARMANIN. On January 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, SEBASTIAN (known as Bastjan tat-Tberfil ta’ Ħal Qormi), aged 85, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved caring wife of 58 years, Marianna, his son Joseph and his daughter Alice, nephews, nieces and numerous friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Wednesday, January 22, at 2.15pm, for St Sebastian archipretal church, Qormi, where mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Resurrection Cemetery, Qormi. May the Lord grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank all the medical staff, both at the Emergency and at Surgical Ward 2, Mater Dei Hospital, for all the care and dedication they showed to him throughout last week.
GRISCTI. On January 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, former Telemalta Corporation engineer, of San Ġwann, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Joyce, née Azzopardi, his son Leonard, brother and sisters, in-laws and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, January 24, at 8am, for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
TABONE. On January 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary Rose, his sons Kenneth and his wife Dorita and Patrick and his wife Leanne, his grandchildren Kyle, Bradley and Eve Victoria, his brothers and sisters, in-laws and other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, at 8.45am, for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.15am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank the sisters and staff at Dar Madre Margerita, Qormi, especially Sr Marion Debrincat, and the staff at Medical Ward 6, Mater Dei Hospital, for all their dedication and support.
VELLA. On January 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, widower of Maryse, née Grech, aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He will be greatly missed by his son Noel and his wife Roberta, his daughter Paula and her husband Robert, his beloved grandchildren Katia, Max, Daniel and Jeremy, his brothers John and Lino, sisters-in-law and all other family members and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Tal-Ibraġ, where mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.May the Lord grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank all carers and staff at Porziuncola Home, Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, as well as doctors and nurses at Mater Dei Hospital for all their dedication and care.
