David Carrigy, Operations Manager at the International Rugby Board (IRB), will be paying a short visit to Malta during which he will have meetings with the local federation and government officials.

In a short statement, the Malta Rugby Football Union said the visit comes after a series of meetings and correspondence with the IRB during the past few years. Contacts intensified after the national team started playing in international competitions.

During Carrigy's fact-finding mission, he will review all facilities available to rugby on the islands and discuss the organisational set-up within the federation. He will also have talks with Minister for Youth and the Arts Jesmond Mugliett.

Carrigy is an important figure within the IRB, the statement added, and shows the amount of respect the world organisation has towards the Malta RFU.
