The Civil Protection Department late on Tuesday warned motorists to drive with extra care due to fallen trees caused by a thunderstorm.

The warning was issued after part of the Birkirkara bypass in Iklin was closed because of fallen trees blocking the lanes in the direction of Mater Dei Hospital.

The department's officers worked with the Cleansing and Maintenance Division and Transport Malta to clear the obstacles.
