Plucky Malta were denied of their first ever victory in international football when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bosnia Herzegovina in their final 2007 World Cup qualifier at the Hibs Ground. It was the first point won by Pierre Brincat's team in the competition.
The Maltese, more aggressive for most of the game, went ahead after 23 minutes through the tireless Dorianne Theuma who hit home after a cross-shot by Natasha Pace. Malta could have gone 2-0 up just before the interval but a flick from Ylenia Carabott hit the side-netting.
Thirteen minutes into the second Mersiha Asteric was sent off for showing dissent. The Maltese went very near through an effort from Theuma which landed on the bar.
Then came the cold shower when substitute Tamar Skribic equalised against the run of play after winning the ball in a melee just inside the area before sliding home.
