Cabinet approves nomination of new judge, magistrate

Magistrate Edwina Grima is to be appointed Judge and lawyer Joanne Vella Cuschieri magistrate, the government said this evening.

Magistrate Grima was born in November 1969 and graduated as a lawyer in 1994. She worked as a lawyer between 1993 and 2007 specialising in civil and matrimonial cases. She served as a chairman on the Small Claims Tribunal and of the Social Security Appeals Board between 2002 and 2005.

She has been serving as a magistrate since her appointment in January 2007.

She is married to Darryl and has three children Gabriel, Gaia and Georgia.

Dr Vella Cuschieri was born in 1976 and graduated as a lawyer in 2001. She is partner in a legal firm and has been serving as a legal consultant to the General Workers’ Union and the Union of Technical and Clerical within the planning authority since 2005.
