Naturali opens at Smart Supermarket

Naturali, the organic product brand, has opened a shop-in-shop at Smart Supermarket, Birkirkara.

The company sources most of its products from foreign suppliers, but it is committed to promote locally grown organic produce certified by the Malta Standards Authority. Naturali's product line-up aims to suit health-conscious choices or dietary requirements.

The product range spans food to detergents and includes dairy products and fresh eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and meat substitutes, poultry and fish, baby products, sweet and savoury bakery, macrobiotics, toiletries, detergents, and cosmetics.

Research concluded by the EU last April revealed that levels of a range of nutritionally desirable compounds, like antioxidants and vitamins were shown to be higher in organic crops, and that levels of nutritionally undesirable compounds such as cadmium and nickel were shown to be lower in organic crops.

The €18 million study of organic food and farming involved 31 research and university institutes, more than 100 papers have been published so far.
