Bishop emeritus Paul Darmanin died on Monday night aged 82.

In a statement, the Church said Mgr Darmanin OFM Cap was elected the first bishop of Garissa, Kenya, in 1984.

He led the diocese until 2015 before retiring in Malta, where he lived at the Franciscan Capuchins' convent in Floriana.
