The Medical Tennis Association, now in its 23rd year, recently held a presentations ceremony during which Minister for Health Louis Deguara distributed trophies to the winner and runners-up of the Remegel 2002 Doctors Tennis Championship. Gozitan Fernando Pisani showed unlimited speed and skill to win the competition. Jan Janula was second and Pierre Sammut and Goran Pecotic were the semi-finalists. Also on the occasion Alexander Arrigo, representing MTA sponsors NM Arrigo Ltd, gave mementos to the MTA team which this year won the MTF Division Two doubles league. The players were P. Pandya, A. Schranz, F. Pisani, J. Janula, G. Pecotic, P. Mangion, P. Sammut and A. Psaila (captain). Dr Deguara congratulated the MTA for its activities and announced that the government intends to host the World Doctors Sports Championship in 2004. The 2006 WMTS Tennis Championship and international congress on sports medicine will be held in Malta as well.
